Via The Swedish Wire:
The Australian said Thursday that Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has encouraged the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to do the “decent thing” and confront the sexual assault allegations against him in Sweden.
Julian Assange has said he fears that he would be extradited from Sweden to the U.S., something that Carl Bildt rejects.
“I think the decent thing for him to do is go and answer those questions from the Swedish prosecutor. I really fail to understand why he doesn’t do that … I don’t know how long he wants to be held up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. It’s a rather strange way of spending his life”, the Swedish Foreign Minister told the Australian.
“I think, as someone pointed out, if the U.S. wanted him they had a better possibility by asking the Brits”.
